Zoo Master Plan Bridgeport, Connecticut 1995-1996 DDA’s award winning Master Plan for Beardsley Zoological Gardens envisions comprehensive redevelopment and expansion of Connecticut’s only accredited Zoo. The Plan lays out four distinctive exhibit areas to build upon and lend focus to the existing animal collection: New England Farm plus North American, South American and Asian Wildlife. A fifth area near the visitor entry features an historic greenhouse, reconstructed carousel and three proposed buildings for administration, education and visitor facilities. The proposed design of new facilities in this area evokes late nineteenth century style in keeping with its given Victorian Gardens theme and the P.T. Barnum provenance of the Zoo’s original menagerie. The Plan proposes introduction of a trackless trolley and other access, circulation and parking im-provements. Bridgeport, Connecticut 1995-1996 |
