Southwest Corridor Park
Design Standards & Coordination

Boston, Massachusetts
1986

One of Boston’s largest public works projects, the Southwest Corridor Project transformed a rail line from Back Bay to Forest Hills into an integrated development featuring 52 acres of parkland and 4.7 miles of rail transit facilities. The parkland resulting from this transformation, both at grade and over decks, features a continuous strand of bicycle paths, 20 children’s play areas, 10 community gardens and 16 hard surface play courts. Nancy W. Denig, ASLA, served as Project Manager for Roy Mann Associates, Inc., SWCP Master Planners. Following on completion of the park master plan, Ms. Denig worked on two crucial links in the completion process: the development of park-wide design standards and coordination of design development and documentation by the three Project Landscape Architects.
