Mystic
Valley Development Everett, Malden
and Medford, Massachusetts Like so many
historic New England waterfront cities, Everett, Malden and Medford have
a myriad of outdated manufacturing plants and brownfields lining the shores
of the Malden River, a Mystic River feeder near Boston. Earlier plans
for this Mystic Valley region had been pinned to the faltering promise
of the telecommunication industry. Commissioned by MassDevelopment to
explore alternative economic development venues, Nancy Denig, in partnership
with Carr Lynch + Sandell, Inc., developed three conceptual plans featuring
variations of mixed use biotech facilities and housing. The alternatives
demonstrate differing densities and building types, as well as opportunities
for wetland mitigation and riverside recreation. |
