Recent Commissions After a strenuous selection process, DDA has been commissioned to develop a master plan for Chelsea Gardens, a new world-class botanic garden in Norwich, Connecticut. Chelsea Gardens Foundation, Inc. LOCAL MASTER PLANNERS SELECTED FOR WORLD-CLASS BOTANIC GARDEN Northampton, Massachusetts, August 25, 2005 – Local landscape architecture firm, Denig Design Associates, Inc. (DDA) has signed a contract as the master planners for Chelsea Gardens in Norwich, Connecticut. Robert Reed, president of the Chelsea Gardens Foundation, Inc. met with DDA’s design team in their Northampton office in late June for the official contract signing. In the next seven months, DDA and its team of consultants will develop the physical, thematic and implementation aspects of the proposed Gardens. “The resulting comprehensive Master Plan will lay the groundwork for design,” stated Development Director Jean Becker, “and bring the Foundation a big step closer toward fulfillment of its mission: a Norwich tourist destination in Mohegan Park, aiming to draw a significant number of visitors to a world-class, year-round, self-supporting Botanical Gardens.” “We are pleased with this selection,” President Reed continued, “because DDA’s vision for what Chelsea Gardens should be is right in line with what we were looking for. Nancy Denig and her staff have the experience to work with our Board and the public to build a garden Master Plan that will be truly world class. All of our Phase 1 studies have been completed and have come back positive with every T crossed and I dotted. I especially liked Denig’s attention to detail, which is something the Chelsea Gardens Foundation has been doing every step of the way.” Denig Design Associates, Inc. is an award-winning landscape architecture firm, based in Northampton, Massachusetts, known for its rational planning and creative design. Similar projects to its credit include: Beardsley Zoological Gardens in Bridgeport, CT; Aboriginal Heritage Park in New Brunswick, Canada; and the Grasslands Exhibit at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. DDA’s consultants are uniquely qualified in complementary disciplines.
